  • ‍ ‍ TARPON

    tar-pon /ˈtɑːr.pən/

    • Known as “The Silver King”.

    • These acrobatic gamefish afford anglers opportunities to hook massive 80 to 200-pound fish in shallow water - sometimes even from the city docks!

    • Tarpon have a unique ability to tolerate low-oxygen environments by gulping atmospheric air directly at the water’s surface using a specialized lung-like swim bladder.

    • Their massive, upturned mouth also works like a vacuum, sucking up their prey on the ocean floor, or swallowing them whole near the surface.

    ‍ ‍ PERMIT

    per-mit /ˈpɜː.mɪt/

    • The holy grail of the flats, they demand attention to detail, and ultimately, lots of luck. You can do EVERYTHING right with Permit, and still not come close to landing (or even hooking) one.

    • Juvenile permit school inshore in shallow, muddy and sandy seagrass, while the adults hang in the flats, channels and the coral rubble filled reef edges.

    • Require stealth, patience, and HIGHLY ACCURATE FLY PRESENTATION.

    • They grow up to 48 inches long, can weigh over 60 pounds, and have a lifespan of up to 23 years!

  • June - September

    • Tarpon fishing at No Name Lodge is fantastic year round. These times are our favorite due to the availability of local produce, the weather, and the fishing - the TCH trifecta.

    • The estuaries are flush with baitfish during the warmer, summer months, bringing the LARGE, migratory, female true “SILVER KINGS” (Queens?) into the calm backwaters.

    • Mangroves line these backwater channels, where you’ll encounter smaller, “resident” tarpon along with some larger fish, ranging from 50-100 pounds!

    • Prime tide conditions during this window also lend to conditions that affords anglers opportunities for sight-fishing tailing permit on the flats!
