Fly into either Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) or La Paz (LAP).

• We will provide you with arrival windows to book your flights within once you book, and arrange your airport shuttles to/from Ciudad Constitución, where we “pop-up” our lodge.

• Your ride each day to the dock is just about 40 minutes from the lodge by car. We’ll shuttle the group each day.

• If you get back to the dock at the end of the day ahead of the others, there is a little beachside restaurant where you can order a drink or snack while you wait.

• The boats are designed for this type of fishing, with wide gunnels, plenty of gear storage, and casting braces on the bow and stern.

• The captain and guide will work together to find birds that are working active bait balls.

• Sometimes the bait is moving fast and requires some running around to get shots at the Marlin. . . .

• Other times, the bait ball is “static”, meaning it is swirling but not moving around fast. This is the ideal situation - aim your casts right in the bait ball and strip your fly back AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!

So. . . . Make sure to practice your two-hand strip. . . .

Once you hook a Marlin. . . .

• HOLD ON and let that fish R-U-N!!!

• It’s going to get hectic for a few minutes, maybe more.

• Then, it’s time to pull HARD.

• Reel as much as you can, and bring the Marlin back to the boat.

• You will be into your backing most times, so make sure your backing knots are solid.

• Once you get the fish close to the boat, your guide will grab the line and leader to pull the fish alongside the boat, so that they can grab the bill.

• This is called “billing the fish”, and is your opportunity to get a picture with your catch.

• Please DO NOT ASK to bring the Marlin on board. . . .

• But please DO get in the picture! You can even get into the water with the Marlin for a shot of the release.

• Ciudad Constitucíon is a small (but large for the area) town, known as “the seat of the Comondú municipality of Baja California Sur, and a gateway to Magdalena Bay.

• This area is known for their agriculture, and local purveyors and producers will be making their daily rounds to share their bounties with our lodge crew.

• Our crew will be on site with you at the local-owned boutique hotel throughout your stay, ensuring that you have more than everything you may need during the trip.

• Begin and end each day at our on-site restaurant, where our crew will be working with the facility’s staff to provide you with exceptional hospitality and an elevated dining experience.
