IT DOESN’T GET BETTER THAN THIS!
Fly into your choice of either La Paz or Los Cabos International Airport, where our drivers are waiting with the air conditioning blasting. You’ll make a quick stop at a well-stocked grocery store for booze, then sit back and enjoy the shuttle ride to our stunning private villa. Located in La Ventana, this property combines creature comforts and ample fishing opportunities. We take it a step further, offering anglers the ultimate Baja trifecta:
- Fishing
- Food
- Fun
Don’t forget your swim trunks, the pool is made for relaxing… Or maybe you’re feeling daring, and choose to wind down the private staircase for an incredible dip in the warm, glistening Sea of Cortez.
We’re chasing the gorgeous Pez Gallo (Roosterfish) in the Bahia de Los Muertos (Bay of the Dead) and Bahia de La Ventana (La Ventana Bay).
There are plenty of other salty critters lurking below the pangas, too… In recent years, our anglers landed dozens of different species on the fly! Anything from Grouper, Dorado, African Pompano, Yellow Fin Tuna, sharks, billfish, blue and striped Marlin can show up any given day. We brought 46 clients down for our 2025 season- and every single angler landed a roosterfish! It was truly INCREDIBLE!
Our head guide Juan Lucero’s family-member guide team are hands down the best on the East Cape. They have been fishing these waters for generations and are always excited to share this dynamic fishery with our Creel Crew.
We are beyond thrilled to share their newest guide with our clients as of the 2026 season, Juan’s youngest daughter, Mayte. She is making history as the first female Roosterfish guide in Mexico!! She also happens to be an extremely talented guide, and we are so proud to share in any part of her and the Lucero family’s journey.
Your private Creel Chef crew is on hand to prepare every meal during your stay. Our chefs have spent years sourcing the best local fish, proteins and extremely hard to find produce. We’ve explored until we mastered the area, and love to share all the hidden gems.
Join in this Baja Blast and see what the hype around catching Roosters on the fly is all about!
Your day’s on the East Cape
5:00 am - We rise early, so grab a cup, pour yourself freshly brewed coffee, take a seat on one of the patios and enjoy the morning ocean air.
5:30 am - Your continental breakfast buffet is up, make yourself a plate.
6:00 am - Load your Creel Chef-packed Yeti lunch bag with snacks from our treat table, grab your Creel provided insulated Yeti Rambler water bottle and head out front to situate your gear in our shuttles.
6:15 am - Wheels are rolling. Enjoy the sunrise on the scenic 30 minute ride to the boat ramp as we cruise around Bahia Los Muertos.
6:45 am - We meet our guide team and witness the magic of Juan Lucero’s local hierarchy in effect as we get priority to launch the boats. First stop is to buy bait, used to tease and attract our target species. Time to fish!
1:00 pm - We head back to the boat ramp once the afternoon wind rolls in or we run out of bait- these usually unfold around the same time. Trek up to the seaside bar and enjoy a round with our guide team as we share photos and compare catches.
1:30 pm - Shuttles are ready to head out, but if you haven’t had your fill of fishing for the day quite yet, we can head to Lighthouse Beach. Any takers will walk and look for opportunities to catch fish within the waves.
2:00 pm - Back at the lodge, rinse the salt off your gear and pour a cocktail or crack open a cerveza. Bring it with you down to take a soak in the pool, perfect use of the swim up bar. Unwind and freshen up.
5:30 pm - Your Creel Chef covers the counter with appetizers, top off your cocktail and take a seat on the upper patio.
6:00 pm - Settle in for dinner served Creel-family-style. There is never a dull moment for your taste buds on any of our trips.
Once you’ve had your fill, take in the last bits of sun as you watch it set while walking the backyard beach, or enjoy a cigar and shot of tequila from the hammock. Bring the tequila buzz to bed or hit it a little harder- the choice is yours. But remember, the day begins early, but no judgment if it also starts with a rebound tequila shot.
