Join Travel Creel as we collaborate with SET Fly Fishing to offer this unique experience in the Corrientes Province of Argentina. Our target is the most aggressive and hard-fighting freshwater species, Golden Dorado. Aim to land these trophy fish, and eat like a champion, too.

In 2026, we head to Jetu’u Lodge in the Ysoro Wetlands and Itaii Lodge on the upper Parana River. Landing in these two locations allows us to fish in both marsh and open river environments, while experiencing the region’s rich culture. The Parana River is comparable in size to the Mississippi River, passing through 3 South American countries. These picturesque lodges provide opportunities for striking in intimate Parana River tributary wetlands, and in open stretches of the vast river. All with your private Creel Chef along for the ride. . . !

Golden Dorado are aggressive eaters, with three rows of razor-sharp teeth. They are unpredictable and wary eaters, with color that matches a beautiful sunset - truly making them a unrivaled trophy fish. We have chosen dates on the edge of the southern hemisphere’s summer. The temperature peaks around the mid-80’s, allowing for a more comfortable sub-tropic adventure.

Feel the rush as a Golden Dorado ambushes your fly, zooming out from behind sunken trees or rocks. This apex predator is on the hunt in hiding, their main food source being Sabalo, a 4 to 6 pound catfish species. Cast deceiver patterns on the surface, key components of productive flies are noise and movement. SET has adapted saltwater flies to feature a less bulky profile, allowing for a less tiresome day of casting for our anglers. Our guides will provide all the flies you need for the duration of the trip, as well.
