An epic
Invite-only
adventure
on baja’s
east cape
May 31 - June 5
We’ve modified our standard fly fishing lodge program to create a unique experience that will leave you with an intense understanding of why the Peninsula’s creed lives on. Because when you’re in Baja, there are. . . .
No bad days!
Experience this fishery in the best possible way!

Fly into your choice of airports, and we’ll take it from there!
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed trip planner. Windows to book flights for both Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and La Paz International Airport (LAP) are outlined for you.
Arrive/depart within the designated windows, and we’ll arrange shuttles to transport you to/from the lodge/airport.
Hate booking flightsor want assistance coordinating flights from multiple locations? NO PROBLEM!!!
Travel support and planning are included with ANY spot on all of our trips! We’ll provide as much, or as little, assistance you prefer.
Total Travel Time:
Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) = 2-2.5 hour shuttle ride each way.
La Paz International Airport (LAP) = 40 minute shuttle ride each way.
Because you’ll find a lot more flight options (including many direct flights from the West Coast) to/from SJD, flights are often much cheaper than flights to/from LAP.
You’ll find less direct flights to/from LAP, but another option for the avid destination angler is to route through San Diego and take the CBX border tunnel to the Tijuana airport. There you can take a regional airline to La Paz, and flying domestic for this leg can significantly reduce the cost and provide additional flight options.
We’re happy to help coordinate this for you. No matter which airport you choose, we host a pre-trip virtual chat to go over arrival/departure info, and we’ll send you a VERY DETAILED, personalized itinerary ahead of your travels kicking off.
Shuttles will stop for booze en route to the lodge. Your driver will stop at a pre-selected store that offers the best possible selection without sending you all into the Cabo area (and traffic).
Our crew will coordinate shuttle pick-up and drop-off times for each airport based on angler’s actual flight times. We’re here to assist and accommodate. If arrival is not possible within the designated windows for any anglers, we may need to arrange additional shuttles, for a supplemental fee.

We’re targeting Roosterfish - Pez Gallo - a uniquely punk-rock species that comes from seemingly out of nowhere. When they get excited (they get VERY excited when they eat!!) their combs will stand up. You’ll see them come slicing through the water - SCHOOOOM!! Be on the ready, because as quickly as they appeared, they’ll grow bored and disappear.
On any given day, anglers will also have many opportunities to cast to massive Mahi Mahi (Dorado), Snapper, Blue Runner, Grouper, African Pompano, Yellowfin Tuna, sharks and even billfish! Anglers will quickly learn to work like hell to cast and strip to avoid the pesky Pelicans and pinché Needlefish!
We’ve partnered with Juan Lucero Fly Fishing to bring you the best captains and guides in all of Baja! His team (mostly made of family members) works together each step of the way in order to give you the best possible experience on the water.
We rise early, starting with a modified self-serve style breakfast. Our crew sets out an array of pastries, fruit and simple breakfast dishes you can help yourself to. Want eggs or something more substantial to start your day? We’ll make sure everything you want is on hand for you to dig in!
Most mornings, we’ll load into our vans and shuttle you about 25 minutes over to the boat ramp, though some may start a little later with a pick-up right from the beach in front of the lodge. It all depends where the bait is, and which direction the Roosters are from there. Our crew will coordinate each afternoon/evening prior to plan out the next fishing day.
We’re fishing from Panga’s, and each boat is equipped with front and back casting braces for anglers to perch against. Angler’s will need to be able to throw a 10 wt all day and strip their fly at a moments notice. Practice your double-haul. . . . You won’t need to throw super far, most of the action is within about 15-30 feet of the boat, which makes for a truly adrenaline-pumping experience like nothing else!
Juan’s crew gathers the bait, which is often your first stop each morning and then it’s go-time! The guides throw bait to tease in a feeding frenzy, which your shoulder will thank pretty quickly….
We’re throwing 10 wts all day, but the benefit of earlier start times on the water means earlier afternoon end times most days. You’re at the mercy of the seas - you’ll head back in the early afternoon once the wind picks up or you’re out of bait.
There’s a restaurant at the boat ramp for you to order a (really delicious) margarita and relax in the breeze while waiting for the other anglers. No need to order food, we’ll set out snacks once we’re back at the lodge.
Those interested in rallying for a DIY beach fishing session are welcome to hit the sand! Anglers have caught fish (including Roosters) right on the beach in front of the lodge! You can walk a long distance in either direction.
We can also coordinate to accommodate an early evening ride back toward the boat ramp for a prime golden hour fishing and photo session (conditions permitting, of course).
Our crew can be flexible and accommodate a varied itinerary for some/all anglers in a group. We frequently work with camera crews, and we’ll plan and pivot as needed to ensure you have every opportunity to achieve any shot list.

While we’re changing things up a bit for our industry block, you’ll still receive unrivaled hospitality! It starts with understanding who our guests are, and ensuring that the dining program will be curated to suit everyone’s dietary needs and preferences throughout your entire stay.
We’ll send a couple forms out to each angler (along with their trip planner) after we receive your deposit. The trip planner can be modified and we can easily modify our gear list with any brands, products you would like included.
We’ll also send each angler a very detailed, individual itinerary with everything they’ll need for customs, immigration and we’ll confirm any of their dietaries, allergies and food preferences. Our crew has them all on hand for menu and meal planning.
Our food program can best be described in courses:
Up first is our breakfast course. We understand that not everyone wants a heavy, or even any, meal so early in the morning before heading out for a day on the boat.
We kick off each of our lodge programs the same way - with a moderate breakfast spread. We’ve got chefs on hand to assist and ingredients galore, so don’t be afraid to ask!!
We start coffee around 4 am, with breakfast at 4:30 am for the mornings we need to meet our guides at the boat ramp.
Lunches are enjoyed on the boat each day. We’ll assist with sandwich material and it’s a group effort to make them each evening before bed (or some prefer to make theirs in the morning).
Since it is customary for us to always provide lunch for the guides and crew on the water, you’ll also help to make your guides lunch for the next day.
Afternoon snacks are provided by the Creel Chef Crew each day once we’re back at the lodge. Don’t need to tell you how to properly enjoy that, help yourself!! Freshen up, pour a cocktail, go for a swim in the pool and maybe partake in an evening beach session on foot with a group.
When needed, we’ll set a time for dinner that accommodates any anglers that want to spend time on the beach.
Some dinners are provided by the Creel Chef Crew at the lodge.
We’ll take you out to visit our favorite local taco “bus” at least one night. Authentic Baja street tacos - we can’t beat that if we tried! We’ll load up coolers with beer and hop into the vans for an evening out in town!
Dinner another night will be at a local restaurant with a more varied menu (and a full bar).
We finish the trip off with a BANG! Literally!! We’ll throw a HUGE season-ending BBQ on the final night. While we end each trip with a fiesta, none compare to the epic proportion we’ll send anglers off to!
-
Our programs are designed to be adaptable and there’s plenty of room for modifications.
Our teams will work seamlessly together, with us contributing as much or as little branding and marketing as you prefer. From pre-trip materials to angler’s SWAG and products on hand at and in use at the lodge.
With space for 10 anglers plus 2 additional camera crew, our lodge features all the amenities (and the views) that you expect a gated, beachfront villa on Baja’s East Cape to afford, and then some.
Our lodge has plenty of comfy space to hang and relax, but still has an authentic feel. Built by our friend, Java, the current owner’s father, a first generation La Ventana resident.
We can also coordinate a shot list around what YOU set out to accomplish. There are endless frame-worthy photo and National Geographic film opportunities! This location will not disappoint!!
-
We pop-up our lodge in La Ventana, overlooking the glistening Sea of Cortez. Our guests will enjoy such amenities as:
Private, gated, beachfront villa
Pool with swim-up bar
Cliffside hammocks (x 3)
Multiple covered patio and gazebo levels
Private steps down to the beach
Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a large stone-tile shower
Single beds for 10 anglers plus 2 additional camera crew (12 total)
Comfortable beds, bedding
Hot water with great water pressure
Laundry facilities/services
Air-conditioned bedrooms
We’re located far enough from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities, but they’re within striking distance for supply runs. There are really unique day-trip locations around the Southern Baja Peninsula that we can easily coordinate for capturing footage at, as well.
We’ll take you where you need to go, and can split the group at various points, if/as needed.
Realize that the plan needs to change ahead of the trip - or even on site? We know how these things go, and we’re here for you. Tell us what you need, and it’s our job to ensure you have it. Even the best laid plans sometimes require us to change things up. We’re happy to make it work for you, whatever it takes!
Add-ons to consider are:
Quad/Polaris (these can be pricey, so ensuring we’ve nailed down a reputable, local owner with well-maintained machines and good ratings is essential). Let us handle that for you!!
