We are back for more!
White Water, Wild Trout and a Creel Culinary Campout…
Join us for another epic trout experience on the West Slope of Colorado. Basecamp for our trip is a beautiful lodge located just minutes away from the North Rim of the Black Canyon. We have teamed up with our friends from Gunnison River Expeditions again to offer a truly one of a kind Travel Creel experience. 4 Nights of lodge based accommodations with 1 overnight in Black Canyon, and 4 days of guided fishing with the team of guides from GRE. The Creel Crew will be with you every step of the way!
Fly into Montrose, CO and our first stop will be at Storm King Distillery, an award winning family owned distillery just a few minutes from the airport. Belly up to the bar for a taste of the finest small batch distilled spirits in the west. Grab a bottle or two for the week, from there we will caravan out to the lodge, about an hour northeast from the town of Montrose.
Settle in at the lodge, enjoy dinner with the group and get ready for the week ahead! Hoppers, Streamers… and hungry trout await!!
The following morning the group will split into two. 4 Anglers will go into the Black Canyon for a 2 day float, while the other 4 anglers enjoy fishing from the Pleasure Park access, just outside of Hotchkiss, CO. After the second “fishing day” of the trip, everyone will swap stories over a delicious dinner. Now the groups will switch! Everyone will fish 2 days in the Black Canyon, and 2 days from the Pleasure Park Access. This allows you to see and fish the most water possible!
Of course you wont go hungry, and you wont necessarily be “roughing it”. We will have one of our Travel Creel Chefs in the Canyon with you! Camping accommodations consist of tents with cots and sleeping pads… Think of glamping!
Each day of fishing you will be chasing browns and rainbows, throwing primarily hoppers, dries and streamers. Be prepared for some epic topwater eats! All of the grabs are super visual and will keep you casting 'till your arm gets tired!

Trip rates are based on double occupancy. We accept single anglers for bookings, however, we will pair you up for room and guide assignments. Don’t worry- we truly have the industry’s best clients! We work meticulously to ensure a personalized and enjoyable experience for all!

Gratuity for guides and lodge staff
Note: A 1.5 mile hike down into the canyon, where you carry your fishing gear and any personal items you’ve brought for the overnight campout is required.
The floats on this trip includes some rapids, and life jackets are REQUIRED (provided for you).
All camping gear is brought in advance, unless you choose to bring your own sleeping bag/pad (cots provided).
*4 days of fishing is split on this trip into:
2 days taking jet boats up from Pleasure Park and then floating back down
2 days beginning with a 1.5 mile hike down into the canyon, loading into boats, fishing down to the overnight campsite where everything you will need awaits you, including your private Creel Chef. Float out after breakfast the next morning.
